A shocking attack has occurred this week on Portland Road in Hove, when a young woman was sexually assaulted by a man she met earlier that night in the Fiddler’s Elbow pub, also in Hove.
The eighteen year old, who cannot be named in this instance, was walking back home with her friend, along with the suspect and another unknown witness. Along the way, however, they got separated and she ended up on Portland Road with the suspect.
Suddenly, as she walked past the alleyway next to the tattoo parlour, he attacked her and she was forced against the wall. Despite her attempt to escape from him, he violently pulled her to the ground and attempted to rape her, although he was hindered significantly by the iPad which he was carrying during the attack.
The woman told the police that the individual was called ‘Vinnie’ or ‘Vincent’ and spoke with a thick Irish accent. “He is white, in his mid-20s, 5′ 7”, of medium build, with dark hair, facial stubble and speaks with an Irish accent. He was wearing a check shirt and cable jumper and was carrying an iPad.
He is reported as being a frequent visitor of various Irish pubs around the Brighton and Hove area, so police are urging people to keep an eye out for a man fitting the above description.
