Freedom Leisure Refurbishments: Worth the Wait?

by Matt Squires

Over the past decade, Freedom Leisure has become a well-known brand in the Brighton and surrounding Sussex areas.

With over 35 centres including large sites in Crawley and Guildford, Freedom Leisure has become one the one of the leading brands in health, fitness and leisure across the region.

As of 2013, the company has invested millions of pounds into new developments at several sites across the area, with costs reportedly in the region of £3.2million per centre.

Most centres are currently projecting a finish date by Christmas, with work having taken place throughout most of the previous year. However, certain centres, such as the complex in Hailsham, work is complete bar a few tweaks.

The refurbishments at Freedom Leisure in Hailsham have been one of the most extensive sections of the project. With the centre now boasting a large café, new entrance and reception area and extended gym and studio sections (amongst other improvements), the site has undergone major transformations in almost every section of the building.

As a result, the facilities at Hailsham have become highly impressive, with the new features acting as the impetus for a healthy increase in membership sales.

The redevelopment project has seen a dramatic improvement in leisure facilities across the area, and with the company now offering free leisure passes at several centres (for a limited time), it is the perfect opportunity to take a look at the new-and-improved Freedom Leisure centres across Sussex.
