Elderly man pulled from a car fire in Ashurst Road, Brighton.

An elderly man has been pulled to safety after his car burst into flames in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday, March 6).

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service was alerted to the fire on Ashurst Road, Brighton, at 1.28am and a crew from Preston Circus Station arrived at the scene at 1.36am.

Upon arrival the elderly man had already been pulled from his vehicle by a passing taxi driver.

Fire crews used a foam mixture foam to successfully bring the fire under control.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
